While you may have a LinkedIn profile, you may not be very familiar with LinkedIn groups. This section of the site is dedicated to communities of professionals based on common interests, experiences, affiliations and goals. There are tens of thousands of groups to choose from. It is difficult to find groups that are perfect for you without being a member because the group’s activity and discussions are hidden until your membership has been approved. This site has figured out the top 5 groups that you should be a member of and which ones will benefit you the most. sendoutcards.com is an easy way to have cards sent out. People still like mail for special occassions

TIP: emails get caught in spam and lost. Using the phone is still good to use if you don't get an email reply

At the end of your follow up email ask a question like "what pother networking events have you found to be worth going to?"

Most people forget to even follow up with an email after them make a great contact
