First impressions are very important, especially when your social media profiles are being viewed by potential employers. Busy professionals are most likely to remember your profile picture than the text in your profile. Without a photo, some people will form a negative impression, or think that you have something to hide. Your primary profile picture should be a high quality headshot of your head and shoulders. Since these pictures tend to be small, it is important to have your face as the main image. Smiling and facing straight to the camera gives the viewer a more attractive and likeable impression of you. Choose a photo that has an uncluttered background, and leave your friends out of this because you want the focus to be on you. No sunglasses, artistic things or a cartoon avatar for your main picture. Choose solids and darker neutral colors as your clothing, no patterns or bright colors so that the focus is kept on your facial expression. For more quick on dirty tips, listen to Lisa B.
